The hidden Glue that builds more effective Teams 14th November, 2pm: 14 Senior Executives of CII embarked on a Journey to assess and enhance their Emotional Intelligence. Our introductory workshop at the Mantosh Sondhi Center, CII HQ, Lodhi Road, the template of our session is Team Building but until we ourselves are aware of our own Emotions and Impulses, how can we even begin to understand, let alone motivate our Teams! RELATIONSHIPS DETERMINE WHO OWNS THE FUTURE. Whether it be connecting with others and improving interpersonal communication, achieving success in the workplace or social relationships, dealing with stress and improving motivation or refining decision-making skills, Emotional Intelligence plays a pivotal role in realizing success in both personal and professional spheres. As good Leaders we need to create a work environment where each person feels relevant and motivated to succeed. Leaders with high Emotional Intelligence are able to use their social skills to foster rapport and trust with their Teams. Our workshop last week was an introduction to the intrapersonal awareness of emotions. Management of these emotions as well as interpersonal awareness and management of the sentiments of our Teams, complete the entire picture as these lead to greater empathy and compassion for our fellow humans. Representing different departments from various CII offices, the executives participated in activities that ranged from individual reflection and expression through creative art, to sociometry exercises that brought out similarities in issues and responses, connecting them at a deeper level. Our meditation towards the end reinforced the sense of belonging to one Family and as each one left with a personalised “Suncatcher” they had made for themselves, the warmth and bonhomie was palpable. Reinforcing our belief that it is so important to recognize what we are feeling at any moment and become aware of the connection between our thoughts, feelings and actions.
